Today's WORSHIP QUOTE is a wonderful hymn text that we will sing this Sunday—Pentecost Sunday. It has become a favorite of our congregation, especially when we think about the Holy Spirit's role in pointing us towards the Savior and opening the hearts of the lost to understand and respond to the gospel. A free lead sheet, piano score, and demo recording are available at www.reformedpraise.org/songs/updatedhymns/come-holy-spirit-come.

COME, HOLY SPIRIT, COME

Come, Holy Spirit, come,
and let Your light arise;
Dispel the sorrow from our minds,
the darkness from our eyes.
Convince us of our sin,
then lead to Jesus’ blood,
And to our wand’ring view reveal
the secret love of God.

CHORUS:
Come, Holy Spirit, come
and melt our frozen hearts;
Your pow’r alone can pour
fresh life on ev’ry part.
So come and make us whole
and sanctify our souls,
Come, Holy Spirit, come
and shine your light!

Enlarge our stingy hearts
and move us toward the poor,
Then may our gifts and deeds reveal
the source of mercy’s store;
And give them ears to hear
the message of the cross
For Jesus came to seek and save
the needy and the lost.

Come, to the nations bring
Your Christ-exalting rays
And turn our prayers to win their hearts
into their songs of praise;
Our plans, and hopes, and tears
to see the lost repent
Can never change one sinner’s heart
until Your light is sent.

HEALTH UPDATE & PRAYER REQUEST
FOR CHIP STAM, CANCER PATIENT
www.carlstam.org/stemcelldrive
=====================================

May 18, 2010 Update

Dear Friends and Family,

Thanks so much for your faithful prayers for my treatment and healing. We continue to be very excited about the success of the stem cell drive: www.carlstam.org/stemcelldrive. Praise God! Longer journal entries and pictures are at www.caringbridge.org/visit/carlstam (click on "journal" or "photos").

CHEMO WEEK
Today, May 18, is day two of a four-day treatment of my new chemotherapy "coctail" (including a hospital stay on May 19-20). I have had this same combination of drugs twice before, and the May 12th PET scan showed that it is working nicely to reduce the lymphoma.

NEXT
My stem cell transplant is tentatively scheduled to begin on June 14. (We are writing these dates on the calendar in pencil.) My brother Billy will come to town that week as my donor (a mismatched sibling). He will be given growth factor injections for several days; then they will get stem cells from him (APHERESIS). The actual infusion of his cells into my body will be during the second week of my hospital stay. The clinicians expect that I will be in the hospital for 4-6 weeks. As you remember, they will watch me closely for the various complications and dangers of Graft vs. Host Disease.

PRAYER
Deep thanks to all of you who are praying for me! Please keep praying. We know that some rough times are ahead, and we are confident that the Lord is sufficient to give us grace and strength to meet the challenges. In the midst of great uncertainty, our family is experiencing a peace and hope that can only come from God (Romans 5:1-5). For this we are very thankful.

Don't forget to care for the cancer patients in your families, churches, neighborhoods, and places of employment. Pray that our stem cell drive will provide many, many cancer patients with life-saving options for treatment.

In His love and care,

Chip Stam
