The Worship Quote of the Week for (09/04/2007):

"Jesus, My Lord, My God, My All"
Today's WORSHIP QUOTE is devotional hymn from the middle of the nineteenth century--a beautiful text that has caught the attention of several modern composers. Try reading these lines out loud.

JESUS, MY LORD, MY GOD, MY ALL

Jesus, my Lord, my God, my All,
Hear me, blest Savior, when I call;
Hear me, and from Thy dwelling place
Pour down the riches of Thy grace;
Jesus, my Lord, I Thee adore;
O make me love Thee more and more.

Jesus, too late I Thee have sought;
How can I love Thee as I ought?
And how extol Thy matchless fame,
The glorious beauty of Thy Name?
Jesus, my Lord, I Thee adore;
O make me love Thee more and more.

Jesus, what didst Thou find in me
That Thou hast dealt so lovingly?
How great the joy that Thou hast brought,
So far exceeding hope or thought!
Jesus, my Lord, I Thee adore;
O make me love Thee more and more.

Jesus, of Thee shall be my song;
To Thee my heart and soul belong;
All that I have or am is Thine;
And Thou, blest Savior, Thou art mine;
Jesus, my Lord, I Thee adore;
O make me love Thee more and more.

[There is a beautiful choral setting of this text that we used at my church this last Sunday. It is by Bob Burroughs ("Jesus, My Lord, My Life, My All") and can be found (complete with demo recording) at www.lorenz.com/product.aspx?id=10_3114L. There is also a modern worship song by David Ward ("I Adore You") based on this same Henry Collins text. A free lead sheet and demo recording can be found at www.reformedpraise.org. I commend both of these resources to you and your church.]

Have a great week!
