The Worship Quote of the Week for (07/25/2006):

And Be Thankful
How do we cultivate and express a God-focused, Christ-centered, Spirit-directed sense of thanksgiving in our personal lives and corporate worship? Today's WORSHIP QUOTE is a familiar paragraph from Paul’s letter to the church in Colossae. Notice how Paul emphasizes THANKSGIVING.

AND BE THANKFUL
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. AND BE THANKFUL. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom and as you sing psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs WITH GRATITUDE IN YOUR HEARTS TO GOD. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, GIVING THANKS to God the Father through him.

—Colossians 3:15-17 (NIV)

[There it is again a few verses later: "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful AND THANKFUL" (4:2); and don’t miss Paul’s thanksgiving emphasis in chapter one (1:3 and 1:12). Lord, teach us gratitude. Amen.]

Have a great week.
