Have you ever noticed how often the Bible links music with giving thanks to God? Today’s WORSHIP QUOTE presents some Scripture verses that illustrate this important connection.

THANKSGIVING IN SONG
Ezra 3:11—With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD: “He is good; his love to Israel endures forever.”

Nehemiah 12:27—At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, the Levites were sought out from where they lived and were brought to Jerusalem to celebrate joyfully the dedication with songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals, harps and lyres.

Nehemiah 12:31—I had the leaders of Judah go up on top of the wall. I also assigned two large choirs to give thanks.

Psalm 28:7—The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.

Psalm 30:11-12—You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy; that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.

Psalm 69:30—I will praise God's name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.

Psalm 95:2—Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

Psalm 147:7—Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp.

Isaiah 51:3—The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the LORD . Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.

Jeremiah 30:19—From them will come songs of thanksgiving and the sound of rejoicing.

Jonah 2:9—But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the LORD .”

Colossians 3:15-17—Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

[Perhaps you will find time to offer your thanksgiving to God in a song.]
