The Worship Quote of the Week for (11/28/2000):

And Be Thankful
Is there a place for a Christ-centered sense of Thanksgiving in our personal
and corporate worship throughout the entire year? Today's WORSHIP QUOTE is a
familiar paragraph from Paul's letter to the church in Colossae. The
THANKSGIVING EMPHASIS is mine (but it seems to be Paul's also).

AND BE THANKFUL
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you
were called to peace. AND BE THANKFUL. Let the word of Christ dwell in you
richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom and as you sing
psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs WITH GRATITUDE IN YOUR HEARTS TO GOD.
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the
Lord Jesus, GIVING THANKS to God the Father through him.

- Colossians 3:15-17 (NIV)

[There it is again a few verses later: "Devote yourselves to prayer, being
watchful AND THANKFUL" (4:2); and don't miss Paul's emphasis in chapter one
(1:3 and 1:12). There definitely seems to be a thankfulness theme.]

Have a great week,
