The Worship Quote of the Week for (10/10/2000):

God's Ten Good Rules
Today's WORSHIP QUOTE is something I think will be useful for you, especially
if you have anything to do with small children. During my recent years as
Worship Pastor of the Chapel Hill Bible Church, one of the more enjoyable and
strategic worship-leading experiences happened every Thursday morning with a
room full of 3- and 4-year-old children. While their mothers were in a Bible
study, I had the privilege of leading these little ones in fifteen minutes of
song, prayer and attention to God's Word. As a part of our worship time
together, we would always recite "God's Ten Good Rules."

Here's a picture of this precious event:

GOD'S TEN GOOD RULES
When I do this with 3-year-old children, we start with the thumb of one hand
and add one finger with each of the rules we recite. These children learned
#1 the first week. Then we did #1 and #2 the next week, and on and on until
the whole list was tucked away in their hearts-word for word, and in the
right order. Give it a try.

1. Worship only God.
2. Do not make something and think it is God.
3. Do not say God's name in a bad way.
4. On God's day, please God.
5. Love and obey your mother and father.
6. Do not kill people.
7. Love truly your wife or husband.
8. Do not steal.
9. Do not lie.
10. And do not want what others have.
