The Worship Quote of the Week for (08/08/2000):

"Open Our Eyes, O Lord, We Pray"
Today's WORSHIP QUOTE is a corporate prayer for openness to God and his Word.
This poem could easily be used in a worship service as a prayer of
illumination before God's Word is read and taught.

OPEN OUR EYES, O LORD, WE PRAY
(drawing on Psalm 119)

Open our eyes, O Lord, we pray,
enlighten heart and mind;
that as we read your word today
we may its treasures find.

Open our ears that, small and still,
your voice be clearly heard,
to guide our steps and cleanse our will
according to your word.

Open our lives to love's embrace,
our dear redeeming Lord;
your word of life and truth and grace
within our souls be stored.

Open our lips, O Lord, in praise
to tell what love imparts:
the work of grace about our ways,
your word within our hearts.

[For a short Bible study on this idea of openness to God, take a look at
these scriptures: Psalm 119:18 (open eyes); Psalm 40:6 (open ears); Psalm
51:15 (open lips); Act 16:14 and Revelation 3:20 (open lives and hearts).]

May you and your church family be open to God.
Have a great week.
