The Worship Quote of the Week for (08/25/1998):

Glorifying and Enjoying God
This summer, the WORSHIP QUOTE OF THE WEEK will be taken from the many and
varied writings of C. S. Lewis, 1898-1963. This is the year we celebrate the
centenary of his birth.

GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD
The Scotch catechism says that man's chief end is "to glorify God and enjoy
Him forever." But we shall then know that these are the same thing. Fully to
enjoy is to glorify. In commanding us to glorify Him, God is inviting us to
enjoy Him.

C. S. Lewis, from REFLECTIONS ON THE PSALMS, Harcourt, Brace & World [now
Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1958.

[Those lines remind me of John Piper's words: "God is most glorified in us
when we are most satisfied in Him."]

Well, that's the end of our C. S. Lewis summers series of WORSHIP QUOTES. I
hope you have enjoyed them. Don't forget that all of these worship quotes are
indexed by author at the main site.

Have a great week,
