The Worship Quote of the Week for (01/21/1997):

God Is Most Glorified in Us
Before we get to the WORSHIP QUOTE OF THE WEEK, let's try something a little
different. How would you complete this sentence?

God is most glorified in us when . . . . .

[Go on! Take a moment and think about it.]

[OK! Scroll down a little more for a WORSHIP QUOTE that will provide fuel for
much meditation and celebration.]

Here it is.

"God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him."

--- John Piper, from FUTURE GRACE, Chapter 31 "The Debt I Owe to Jonathan
Edwards," Multnomah Books, 1995, p. 386. John Piper is pastor of Bethlehem
Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

And a little more from the same chapter:

"If the nature of faith is to be satisfied with all that God is for us in
Jesus, then the universal biblical mandate to believe is a radical and
pervasive call to pursue our own happiness in God. To say that you are
indifferent to your own happiness would amount to saying that you are
indifferent to the nature of faith. But that would be sin. The call of this
book is that we stop sinning like that, and to seek, with all our might, the
greatest possible satisfaction in God. Therefore living by faith in future
grace is Christian hedonism-the mandate to pursue our happiness in all that
God is for us in Jesus-even if it costs us our life. 'For the steadfast love
of the Lord is better than life (Psalm 63:3).'"

Have a great week,
