The Worship Quote of the Week for (12/10/1996):

"And the Word Was Made Flesh"
This WORSHIP QUOTE OF THE WEEK is a verse of Scripture and a short poem on
the theme of the incarnation. The title of the poem is taken from the first
line of the verse.

First the verse:

The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.
--John 1:14 (from THE MESSAGE)

And now the poem:

"And the Word was made Flesh"

Light looked down and beheld Darkness.
"Thither will I go," said Light.
Peace looked down and beheld War.
"Thither will I go," said Peace.
Love looked down and beheld Hatred.
"Thither will I go," said Love.
So came Light and shone.
So came Peace and gave rest.
So came Love and brought Life.
-- Lawrence Housman (1865-1959)
