The Worship Quote of the Week for (02/26/1996):

Prayer of Confession
Well, here we are at the end of the first week of LENT. The WQOTW is an
adaptation of the Prayer of Confession found in the BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER.
Certainly, to worship "in spirit and truth" includes telling God the truth
about our own sin and our need for his mercy and forgiveness.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what I have done,
and by what I have left udone.
I have not loved you with my whole heart;
I have not loved my neighbor as myself.
I am truly sorry and I humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on me and forgive me,
that I may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name.

-- adapted for private prayer from THE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER (Episcopal
Church) by Robert Webber in THE BOOK OF DAILY PRAYER (Eerdmans, 1993)

Have a great week,
